Cuts in Ariz. disabled services remain in force

The Arizona Supreme Court has refused to block the state from implementing budget cuts in services for thousands of developmentally disabled people.

The state high court on Monday declined without comment to review a Court of Appeals ruling that erased a preliminary injunction issued by a trial judge.

A lawsuit by advocates for the developmentally disabled had challenged a January budget-balancing law.

At issue in the case resulting cuts in home- and community-based services.

Those include various forms of therapy and nighttime attendants for adults who cannot live alone and infants born with severe disabilities.
