• Israel G. Torres, managing partner of Torres Consulting & Law Group, LLC, has been awarded the Hispanic Leadership Institute’s Daniel R. Ortega, Jr. Public Service Award.
Torres was recognized for his previous roles as a municipal and state appointed official, his volunteerism for numerous nonprofit and business associations and involvement in statewide elections.
Torres served in Gov. Janet Napolitano’s cabinet from 2003 to 2006 and was the chief regulator of the construction industry as the director of the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
• Chris Cummiskey, director of the Government Information Technology Agency (GITA) and Arizona’s chief information officer, will receive a 2008 Distinguished Service to State Government Award, based on his efforts to implement Governor Napolitano’s agenda for innovation and technology in the state.
Thurman Keene has been appointed U.S. sales engineer for FiREapps, a top provider of corporate foreign currency exposure management software.
In his new role, Keene will help to assess the needs of prospective customers and demonstrate how FiREapps Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions can reduce costs and improve the efficiency of their foreign exchange exposure management programs.
• Scott W. Hulbert has joined the Phoenix-based law firm Engelman Berger, where he will focus on “reaching creative business solutions for clients faced with challenging commercial, construction and environmental litigation matters.”
Hulbert is a member of the Arizona State Bar Association, the Maricopa Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel.
