Marson takes over communications at Corrections

A former spokesman for the House of Representatives has landed in prison – not as an inmate, but as the new director of communications for the Department of Corrections.

Barrett Marson, who served as press aide to former House Speaker Jim Weiers for four years, began working for the state prisons April 20. He was replaced in the House by Becky Blackburn when Kirk Adams was installed as the new speaker earlier this year.

Marson, a former reporter for the East Valley Tribune and Arizona Daily Star, also was named Best Government PR Person by Arizona Capitol Times in 2008.
