There is a deal

Gov. Jan Brewer and legislative leaders have struck a deal on the budget that, among other provisions, calls for more than $600 million in spending cuts, substantially similar to the $631 million sought by GOP lawmakers, YS‘s sister publication, the Legislative Report says.

The agreement also contains a compromise provision to allow voters to decide this fall whether to temporarily raise the sales tax by one cent to help bridge steep deficits expected for the next few years.
