Manos retires from Brewer administration

Gov. Jan Brewer is going to have to finish the arduous budget process without her top finance advisor.

Tom Manos, Brewer’s deputy chief of staff for finance, retired from the governor’s administration July 31, according to the Governor’s Office. Eileen Klein will replace him as finance chief while also continuing in her role as director of the Governor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Budgeting.

“Tom Manos is an outstanding individual of high character and professionalism who provided excellent guidance and wise counsel to my administration and the state of Arizona, and I know he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of working with him,” Brewer said in a press release.

Before joining the Governor’s Office, Manos served as chief financial officer for Maricopa County, where he worked for 25 years. He was one of the first appointments of the Brewer administration.

Klein served as chief operating officer for Arizona Physicians IPA by United Healthcare before being named OSBP director. Before joining United Healthcare, Klein spent 12 years in state government in Arizona and Florida, including serving as director of policy for the Arizona House of Representatives.
