Barnes’ comments take a turn for the weird

While the Senate barely said a word about the budget bills, the House spent more than an hour debating their merits when they came up for a vote Nov. 23. When the offer’s off

After the bills passed, Sen. Albert Hale complained that he and the Republicans were in the middle of negotiations when leadership decided to go ahead and vote the bill out, presumably since they already had Sen. Thayer Verschoor's vote. The move doesn't bode well for future negotiations, Hale said.

Another potential buyer says he’ll bid on the Tribune (access required)

An unnamed entity sent a letter of intent to buy the East Valley Tribune last week, but a second potential buyer has made it clear that he intends to make a bid for the newspaper in the near future. Steve Hadland, CEO of the Santa Monica Media Company, said he is still pursuing the purchase of the Tribune.
