Mr. Glen Hammer, CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce has yet to show good faith in resolving bad business practices. The threat implied by the Chamber in 2008 has done nothing to alleviate the need for regulating business.

The Chamber's threat to retaliate if Arizona's judges begin issuing punitive damage awards for unethical or illegal practices does not encourage less regulations.

The Chamber needs to review and analyze the activities of its member businesses and leave affairs of State Government to elected representatives of the citizens of Arizona.

All Arizonans should be concerned about the statement attributed to the Goldwater Institute, "The Goldwater Institute wants some professions, such as nursing, to license and accredit people through industry organizations instead of through the state."

That is not an accurate characterization of the Institute's position, I am sure. Qualifying for a license and issuing a license are two separate, and distinct issues.

The people of the community must always have the final say on who will be licensed to perform the duties of their profession in the state. Professionals with "outstanding complaints" must not have their licenses renewed until all complaints are resolved.

The Judiciary has more than 200,000 outstanding complaints of licensed lawyers since taking over the task of licensing. People have been waiting for years for resolution while the attorneys in question continue to prey upon the people of the community.

The final license must be withheld until all complaints are resolved to the saisfaction of the complainant. Then the community will decide.
