In my opinion, in this day and age the one thing that should matter is that the child is placed in a loving home with a positive environment. One that provides a safe environment and role models that will enrich the life of that child. Some times that is not a two parent home. I have seen many single parents both male and female raise successful and well balanced children.

On the other side of the coin I have also seen two parent homes that have had very disruptive children, which have no manners and no respect for authority. So to say that traditional values play a huge role in the way children are raised are inconclusive. I personally would prefer a two parent home; however any home that can provide a nurturing environment and a stable home life whether it is a single parent home or a two parent home should be what a child needs.

Our reasonability as adoptive parents is to raise our children to believe in themselves so that they become positive and productive individuals in life. So on that note, a single parent can be just as effective as a two parent home.
