Brewer sticks by ‘drug mule’ remark

Gov. Jan Brewer is sticking to her comments that a majority of illegal immigrants coming into Arizona are being used as drug mules by cartels.

Just hours after those remarks to reporters June 25, the Governor’s Office sent out a statement seeking to clarify her position, but stopped short of saying she misspoke.

“The simple truth is that the majority of human smuggling in our state is under the direction of the drug cartels, which are by definition smuggling drugs. It is common knowledge that Mexican drug cartels have merged human smuggling with drug trafficking,” Brewer said in a statement. ““The human rights violations that have taken place victimizing immigrants and their families are abhorrent. Border crossers are used by drug cartels as commodities.”

The statement did not specifically address whether she still believes a majority of illegal immigrants from Mexico are smuggling drugs.

“We all know that the majority of the people that are coming to Arizona and trespassing are now becoming drug mules,” Brewer told reporters earlier in the day, following a speech at a Korean War commemoration ceremony. “The drug cartels have taken control of the immigration and illegal trespassing that we are seeing in the state of Arizona.”

The governor made those remarks after she was asked to elaborate on comments she made the week before during a debate when she said most of the people who illegally enter the United States aren’t looking for work.

Many illegal immigrants depart for the United States looking only for work, she said, but end up under the control of cartels.

“They are criminals. They’re breaking the law when they’re trespassing and they’re criminals when they pack the marijuana and the drugs on their backs,” she said.

Attorney General Terry Goddard, the Democratic nominee for governor, disputed Brewer’s assertion.

“The governor does not understand the difference between illegal immigration and the organized criminals who are members of the violent drug cartels who pose a very a real danger. While the governor is entitled to her own opinion, she is not entitled to make up facts,” Goddard said in a press statement.

A spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the agency did not keep statistics on the percentage of illegal border crossers who are apprehended with drugs.

  1. “BREWER” hmm….how do you think the name brewer came in to existence?
brewery..that’s how. Absolutely the most ignorant woman in America..besides Sarah Palin

  2. If,–IF President Obama dared to go over the heads of Congress in using an executive order, to give the 20 to 30 million illegal aliens a quasi- amnesty, the chances of impeachment are very–REAL. No matter what the open border coalition calls the enacted law–comprehensive immigration reform, or illegal aliens paroled into this nation after breaking our sovereignty laws. It is still recognized by the majority of THE PEOPLE as–AMNESTY. It would cause an upheaval throughout the country as never seen before? It would certainly lead to riots, and the worst political unrest since the since the Viet-Nam war draft.. It would be so demeaning to the American people, that their input means nothing to those they voted into office. That even though they pay the pro-amnesty exorbitant salaries to Majority leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and the long list of others of those celebrating such a potential catastrophe?

There would be no quarter and would turn into a political funeral cortège’s of the majority party in November. Being “politically Correct” won’t help the Liberal-Bolshevik-extremists any longer, as the mass populace have seen through their agendas. Even the racist labeling is falling on deaf ears for once, such as overwhelmingly in Arizona where the law abiding citizenry and legal residents (that includes Hispanics) who once and for all realize that illegal immigration has become a empowerment of Lib-Dems to build a massive voting block. This is all to do with our failing economy from both parties over the years and now we are carrying a 13 trillion dollar deficit, from cheap labor, free trade and not beholding the text of the Constitution of the dangers of propagating government.

Solis is another pro-amnesty madam who will also be shown the door, along with many other supporters of illegal immigration. However these insipid politicians could revise the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli bill, by adjusting certain laws? Build the–REAL (2)–Fences and complete them, which separate us from the corrupt government of Mexico. Ensure that employers recruit the top notch legal immigrants, with credentials to prove it? High paid engineers, scientist and their ilk, will never end up in the taxpayer’s welfare line. Want cheap, discount labor? Employers should pay for their illegal children’s education, hospital and clinic treatment and give that labor a fair wage. Don’t stick the American people with the payments incurred? THIS IS CORPORATE WELFARE BY ANY OTHER NAME. Every foreign national who enters America must be documented? But of course such basic honesty by incorrigible employers would never happen?

Those who entered this country illegally must depart and then make an entrance legally. A new points system like Europe must be designated to implement FBI background checks, medical examination and determine a person’s worth to the United States. A moratorium must be imposed every few years to assess assimilation and the consequences of–OVERPOPULATION–as stated by the US Census. Then U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has recently launched a redesigned web interface for the E-Verify program, which encompasses enhancements to the system’s usability, safety, precision, and proficiency.
This computer innovation must be a permanent law to verify every working man and women, long-term or new? These laws revised as amendments to the 1986 law, must be strictly enforced. No back door Washington games that is been going on for years, which includes attorney’s collusion with less-reputable employers, who import cheap labor from India, to work in the computer industry.

Every immigrant entering America from now on, must carry a biometric card that identifies their status. Agricultural worker included, who must stay at that work site until their permit expired. Absconding from that employment means instant deportation when caught. If these conditions are not satisfactory to the special interest organizations then refer it to the American people as a–PUBLIC REFERENDUM.

Every American and legal resident no matter their color, religion and employment status are joining NumbersUSA, to fight for Arizona and political survival in this nation. Learn the true facts and not the lies or propaganda at this website.

  3. Prohibition is a sickening horror and the ocean of incompetence, corruption and human wreckage it has left in its wake is almost endless.

Prohibition has decimated generations and criminalized millions for a behavior which is entwined in human existence, and for what other purpose than to uphold the defunct and corrupt thinking of a minority of misguided, self-righteous Neo-Puritans and degenerate demagogues who wish nothing but unadulterated destruction on the rest of us.

Based on the unalterable proviso that drug use is essentially an unstoppable and ongoing human behavior which has been with us since the dawn of time, any serious reading on the subject of past attempts at any form of drug prohibition would point most normal thinking people in the direction of sensible regulation.

By its very nature, prohibition cannot fail but create a vast increase in criminal activity, and rather than preventing society from descending into anarchy, it actually fosters an anarchic business model – the international Drug Trade. Any decisions concerning quality, quantity, distribution and availability are then left in the hands of unregulated, anonymous and ruthless drug dealers, who are interested only in the huge profits involved. Thus, the allure of this reliably and lucrative industry, with it’s enormous income potential that consistently outweighs the risks associated with the illegal operations that such a trade entails, will remain with us until we are collectively forced to admit the obvious.

A great many of us are slowly but surely wising up to the fact that the best avenue towards realistically dealing with drug use and addiction is through proper regulation which is what we already do with alcohol & tobacco, clearly two of our most dangerous mood altering substances. But for those of you whose ignorant and irrational minds traverse a fantasy plane of existence, you will no doubt remain sorely upset with any type of solution that does not seem to lead to your absurd and unattainable utopia of a drug free society.

There is therefore an irrefutable connection between drug prohibition and the crime, corruption, disease and death it causes. Anybody ‘halfway bright’, and who’s not psychologically challenged, should be capable of understanding that it is not simply the demand for drugs that creates the mayhem, it is our refusal to allow legal businesses to meet that demand. If you are not capable of understanding this connection then maybe you’re using something far stronger than the rest of us. So put away your pipe, lock yourself away in a small room with some tinned soup and water, and try to crawl back into reality A.S.A.P.

Because Drug cartels will always have an endless supply of ready cash for wages, bribery and equipment, no amount of tax money, police powers, weaponry, wishful thinking or pseudo-science will make our streets safe again. Only an end to prohibition can do that! How much longer are you willing to foolishly risk your own survival by continuing to ignore the obvious, historically confirmed solution?

If you support the Kool-Aid mass suicide cult of prohibition, and erroneously believe that you can win a war without logic and practical solutions, then prepare yourself for even more death, tortured corpses, corruption, terrorism, sickness, imprisonment, economic tribulation, unemployment and the complete loss of the rule of law.

“A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.”
    Abraham Lincoln

The only thing prohibition successfully does is prohibit regulation & taxation while turning even our schools and prisons into black markets for drugs. Regulation would mean the opposite!

  4. Jan Brewer doesn’t know what she is talking about, but you can be sure it is getting her lots of political mileage. I irritates me that we have such poor intellects in Arizona public offices. I listened to the gubernatorial candidates’ debate and was appalled at her use of English. She KEPT saying “I have did…” this or that. At first I thought it was nervousness, but when she said it again and again, I realized that she is just poorly educated. Hence the smuggling comment. We can expect more of the same from her. Let’s let her retire, now.

  5. Jan Brewer may not have a phd in politics, but she is one strong, inviolate
individual who knows what is right and what is good for this state

  6. Just another sign of what an uneducated dolt our governor is and how SB1070 was about fear-mongering politics and elections, not illegal immigration. Using Brewer’s sweeping logic, one could say that all Republican women are as dumb as a box of rocks.
