Campaign finance regulators don’t find violation by Brewer

Arizona campaign finance regulators don’t think Gov. Jan Brewer and Republican organizations violated any state laws or rules through fundraising and other activities involving the Republican Governors Association.

The Citizens Clean Election Commission hasn’t yet taken formal action, but spokesman Michael Becker says the staff’s initial conclusion is there’s no violation as suggested in a complaint filed by the state Democratic Party.

The complaint suggested there was illegal coordination between Brewer’s publicly funded campaign and the RGA through an association website. Brewer is pictured and the site asks donors to “stand with” her and Arizona on its illegal immigration law.

Brewer’s campaign says Brewer’s fundraising for the RGA didn’t benefit her campaign.
