Former Alaska governor kicks off book tour in Phoenix

Several hundred people lined up Tuesday night to get a copy of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s new book and have her sign it.

John McCain’s former running mate kicked off her national book tour at a store in north Phoenix.

Palin is signing copies of her new book “American by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag.” The book is her first since the million-selling memoir “Going Rogue.”

Some people begin lining up at 1 a.m. Tuesday outside the Barnes & Noble bookstore at Desert Marketplace for an event that didn’t begin until 6 p.m.

The potential 2012 presidential candidate was scheduled to sign copies of her new book for three hours.
