US legislative group holding conference in Phoenix

Legislators from across the country are gathering in Arizona for a national conference that includes discussions on such issues as state budgets, immigration laws, job-creation strategies and redistricting.

The three-day conference of the bipartisan National Conference of State Legislatures starts Wednessday and is being held at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix.

The conference also includes work on policy resolutions to guide the group’s dealings with Congress and the Obama administration.

Keynote speakers include economic forecaster Christopher Thornberg on Thursday and Washington author and analyst Lou Cannon.
