Person of interest ID’d in Ariz lawmaker’s beating

Casa Grande police say they have identified a “person of interest” in last week’s beating and robbery of an Arizona lawmaker.

Police arrested 34-year-old Hilyard Bardney Scott on an unrelated warrant Tuesday. Phoenix PD said Wednesday Scott was booked into jail Tuesday evening.

Casa Grande detectives say they want to talk to Scott about the Dec. 25 beating and robbery of Rep. Frank Pratt at the legislator’s Casa Grande swimming pool business. Pratt’s stolen SUV was later found in Phoenix.

The Arizona Republic says Casa Grande detectives were in Phoenix Tuesday afternoon to question Scott regarding both cases.

Police say Scott was arrested in connection with a Dec. 23 aggravated assault and robbery at an apartment complex located about a half mile from Pratt’s pool business.
