Suspect arrested in Arizona lawmaker’s beating

Casa Grande police say a suspect is in custody in the beating and robbery of an Arizona lawmaker.

Police said Wednesday that they have booked 34-year-old Hilyard Bardney Scott of Casa Grande on charges of kidnapping, armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Scott was arrested on an unrelated warrant Tuesday. He’s now being held in the Pinal County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Casa Grande police say Scott is suspected in the Dec. 25 beating and robbery of Rep. Frank Pratt at the legislator’s Casa Grande swimming pool business. Pratt’s stolen SUV was later found in Phoenix.

Police say Scott was arrested in connection with a Dec. 23 aggravated assault and robbery at an apartment complex located about a half mile from Pratt’s pool business.
