Lake Havasu City officials are deciding where they should place a medical marijuana dispensary.
The city Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5 to 2 this month on provisions that prevent the operation of a medical marijuana business within 500 feet of any church, school, residential area or public park. The amendment also prevents medical marijuana businesses from being within 1,000 feet of one another as well as a few other zoning specifications.
The Today’s News-Herald reports the City Council could adopt an ordinance amendment when it meets Tuesday evening allowing at least one medical marijuana dispensary in Lake Havasu City.
City Manager Charlie Cassens says the city has limited control over the location of dispensaries and grow operations.
