Few Sierra Vista residents have anything to say about the establishment of voter-approved medical marijuana dispensaries in southern Arizona.

The public offered very little input Thursday before the city council voted in favor of zoning regulations that will likely decide where the facilities can and cannot be located in Sierra Vista.

The council voted 6-1 to require medical pot dispensaries be located at least 500 feet from a church, school, residential area or public facility.

The council approved regulations creating a 500-foot buffer around Fort Huachuca and that dispensaries be at least 500 feet from other dispensaries.

Dispensaries would be allowed in areas zoned general commercial. Growing or infusion sites would have to be located in light industrial areas.
