Phoenix protesters in support of Wisconsin workers

A few hundred protesters gathered in Phoenix to support Wisconsin workers protesting their governor’s proposal to limit union rights.

There were no reported incidents in Saturday’s rally outside the Arizona State Capitol.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s bill would require government workers to contribute more to their health care and pension costs. It would also largely eliminate their collective bargaining rights.

Saturday’s gathering in Phoenix was among at least 50 rallies scheduled nationwide to support public workers and protest legislation that critics believe are aimed at weakening unions.
