Lawmakers named to fill committee seats vacated by Court

With Rep. Steve Court’s ascension to majority leader, other lawmakers have been appointed to fill the seats he has left vacant on various committees.

Rep. Tom Forese, R-Gilbert, will be taking his place as chairman of the House Higher Education, Innovation and Reform Committee, with Rep. Brenda Barton, R-Safford, replacing Forese as vice-chair.

“I’m looking forward to this, this is going to be fabulous,” Barton said.

Forese couldn’t be reached for comment.

Rep. Justin Olson, R-Mesa, will be replacing Court as vice-chairman of the Appropriations Committee and newly-appointed Rep. Justin Pierce, R-Mesa, will be taking a seat on the House Education Committee.

Pierce has also been appointed as vice-chairman of the Technology and Infrastructure Committee and as a member of the Health and Human Services Committee.
