Man pleads guilty in attack on Arizona lawmaker

A Casa Grande man has pleaded guilty to a kidnapping charge in an attack on state Rep. Frank Pratt late last year.

The Arizona Republic says Hilyard Bardney Scott entered the plea Tuesday in Pinal County Superior Court.

As part of the plea agreement, an aggravated assault charge against the 34-year-old Scott was dropped.

Authorities say Pratt was beaten, tied up and robbed on Christmas Day by a man who had broken into his Casa Grande swimming-pool business.

Pratt’s stolen SUV was found days later in Phoenix.

Prosecutors say Scott’s plea agreement shows he could face between 12 and 15 years in prison when he’s sentenced Oct. 24.
