Arizona lawmakers to review child protection program

Arizona legislators on Thursday will review aspects of the state’s child protection program at a time when the program is also under scrutiny from Gov. Jan Brewer’s administration.

Brewer recently said she’s forming a panel to make recommendations on possible changes. Her move came after the death of a girl who had been the subject of five reports to Child Protective Services.

A House-Senate panel on Thursday will be reviewing results of audits of some aspects of CPS, including use of shelters and other group settings and the placement of children with relatives.

Please make drastic changes to the CPS system. It is badly needed.
