Arizona lawmakers to review child protection program

Arizona legislators on Thursday will review aspects of the state’s child protection program at a time when the program is also under scrutiny from Gov. Jan Brewer’s administration.

Brewer recently said she’s forming a panel to make recommendations on possible changes. Her move came after the death of a girl who had been the subject of five reports to Child Protective Services.

A House-Senate panel on Thursday will be reviewing results of audits of some aspects of CPS, including use of shelters and other group settings and the placement of children with relatives.
