I'm sure that they have rationalized using the Church's organizational structure, targeting local leadership and using church facilities to promote Mr. Lewis' candidacy and platform as being appropriate under the circumstances; just another political tool, a means to an end. From LDS.org on Political Neutrality: "The Church does not: • Endorse, promote or oppose political parties, candidates or platforms. • Allow its church buildings, membership lists or other resources to be used for partisan political purposes. • Attempt to direct its members as to which candidate or party they should give their votes to. This policy applies whether or not a candidate for office is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." It appears that for political expediency, he used poor judgment. Now that he won the election, I wonder how we can trust his judgment on other matters. Maybe I am politically naive, but it just seems wrong. This campaign was mounted by lefties looking for a dupe and they found it in Lewis. I'm sure he's a great guy but this was not his idea and he was not the first one approached. While much was made of Olivia Cortes being a sham candidate, Lewis was just as much a sham candidate for the left wing, unions and other shady people. Excuse me, but this is a crock of bull.
