The legislators who are proposing teaching Bible history ought to get together for coffee with the ones who are proposing mandatory courses in the study of the U.S. Constitution. Have they heard of separation of church and state? And what about those who have studies -- as surely they exist -- which show that studying the Koran, the I Ching Book of Changes, the Book of Mormon, and /or the Torah are all beneficial to a student's understanding of history?

Instead of advocating the teachings and beliefs of one religition, how about a course called "World Religions," in which ALL major religious beliefs are studied and discussed?
