Former Congressman Matt Salmon raised $152,514 during the last quarter of 2011, bringing his total haul to $470,439 for the year.

The campaign will be starting out 2012 with $304,875 in its campaign war chest.

To date, Salmon’s campaign has received contributions from 1,200 donors, including 500 new donors in the fourth quarter.

Salmon’s chief Republican rival in the 5th Congressional District race, former House Speaker Kirk Adams, has not released his latest fundraising numbers yet. He had out-raised Salmon during the second quarter of 2011, but Salmon raised more in the third quarter.

Adams and Salmon are vying to replace U.S. Rep. Jeff Flake, who is running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retirement of Sen. Jon Kyl.

Salmon, who announced his candidacy in April, served three terms in Congress before leaving office in 2000 and ran unsuccessfully for governor against Janet Napolitano in 2002.
