It is funny how those who have unlimited income can propose the demise of coal fired plants, which DO NOT pollute by all standards except the increased requirements of the EPA to make it impossible for ANY coal fired plant to achieve. The military bases run on taxpayer dollars so sure, no problem lets make them all run on green energy.

The public does NOT want "renewable" energy funded by the government and the industry is NOT self sufficient in the open market. Recently, a neighbor business was given a grant to put up the ugliest panel array IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD of a "Historic" area that will only provide about 80% of the electricity needed. They couldn't afford to buy it so they received a grant for $80,000 so it could be set up. You could build a house for $80,000!!!! WE, the AZ taxpayers, paid for that array. NO reasonable person would indebt themselves to that amount of money to get 80% of their power needs. Since they didn't pay for it--- no problem.

The future will NOT be powered by solar or wind unless they are allowed to compete in the market and NOT be subsidized by the government. What will happen is that many people on fixed income will NOT be able to afford even their basic energy needs. Watch the death toll rise in the summer when they will not be able to afford a/c on their pensions!
