This story not only uproots the logic behind the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision that said spending by independent groups cannot lead to corruption, but it also shows the need for the legislature to move forward on a plan to strengthen Arizona's Clean Elections laws so that candidates have the funds necessary to run competitive campaigns for office without having to rely on big money special interests or help from six-figure check writers.
