Justice regarding Andrew was done and we move forward. We ask ourselves "does the antics and actions of Arpaio meet the threshold to being a certified law enforcement officer"? Under state law, Chapter Title 13, Public Safety, Arizona Peace Officers Standards and Training Board, R 13-4-103B, Sheriff's are exempt from the requirement of certified law enforcement status. Why is that? State legislators can change it! I believe that state legislators need to revisit this standard and make sure that all law enforcement offices, even Sheriff's, must meen certain standards and make sure that Arizonans are protected from the kind of abuse of power that Sheriff Arpaio practices so freely. It is time for state legislators to put the public trust back into law enforcement and do it now! No officer should be allowed to carry the power of the public's trust without meeting at a minimum certification standards. Legislators do this prior to the November election.
