Not needed: ''$50 million for a 500-bed maximum security prison; and nearly $10 million to hire new correctional officers."

"The disintegration of our criminal justice system, day by day and year by year, and the movement toward mass incarceration — with very little attention being paid to clear standards of prison administration or meaningful avenues of re-entry for those who have served their time — are dramatically affecting millions of lives. They are draining billions of dollars from our economy, destroying notions of neighborhood and family in hundreds of communities across the country, and — most importantly — not making our country a safer or a fairer place."

Cut this. Arizona does not need any more prisons. They need to fix what they have and reform outdated, draconian laws that would save taxpayers millions.

Governor wants "$50 million for a 500-bed maximum security prison; and nearly $10 million to hire new correctional officers." --- money we taxpayers do not want spent.

Education, not incarceration should be Arizona's priority. Coughlin, High Ground, CCA should not be driving Arizona policy -- the mass incarceration of its people!
