Arizona GOP to hold state convention in Phoenix

Gov. Jan Brewer and Mitt Romney’s son are among the scheduled speakers at the Arizona Republican Party’s state convention.

The Arizona Republican Party is set to hold its daylong 2012 State Convention on Saturday at Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix.

Josh Romney, who’s been helping his father campaign for the presidency, is expected to give remarks.

Members of the Arizona Congressional Delegation and the governor of the Gila River Indian Community also will be speaking.

Delegates at the county and legislative district levels will be electing representatives to attend the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla. In August.

State lawmakers propose funding for Tucson shooting memorial

Three Arizona lawmakers from Tucson have introduced legislation that would provide state funding for the memorial commemorating the victims and the survivors of a mass shooting that targeted former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords.
