Former Mexican President Vicente Fox will deliver a keynote speech in Peoria in September just before the beginning of a newly revived Hispanic festival.
The Arizona Republic reports that Fox will speak on Sept. 13 at a dinner for sponsors of Fiesta Peoria.
Fox was Mexico’s president from 2000 to 2006.
Peoria City Council member Tony Rivero is helping organize Fiesta Peoria to pay homage to the city’s Latino heritage after the festival had fallen by the wayside about four years ago.
This year’s festival is set for Sept. 15.
Invitations to the dinner are being extended to some of the Arizona’s congressional delegation and state and local leaders.
