The public needs to be informed about this New York Times Sunday's Editorial page article. Pearce, as a former deputy sheriff to Arpaio, didn't get his positions of power without others enabling him, allowing him to feel he could bigoted, racist and say whatever he wanted to say. This NYT editorial applies to Russell Pearce as well.

excerpt:

“This picture is incomplete. Many Latinos surely avoid any contact with the sheriff and his deputies. But Maricopa is also home to a brave corps of people who have tirelessly and stubbornly resisted the sheriff’s campaign of fear. They are a diverse group — Latinos and Anglos, immigrants and the native-born, street protesters and musicians, filmmakers and bloggers, and a very small number of elected officials. They don’t get much national attention. But as the worst of the outrages of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office are exposed this month in United States District Court in Phoenix, their work and their warnings are finally being recognized.”

Pearce should accept responsibility for his actions just as he has for years told others to do. He and his enablers have carried on for too many years with their culture of hatred, bigotry and racism inflaming the public and destroying many innocent families. Arizona has become a shameful laughing stock around the country. Its time to end the “rule of tyrants”. Read the New York Times Sunday Editorial page to see how others describe Arizona. Time to change the shameful legacy.
