Brewer appoints new Maricopa County judge

Gov. Jan Brewer has filled named a Phoenix-area court commissioner to fill a vacancy on the Maricopa County Superior Court.

Brewer’s appointment of Joan Sinclair fills a vacancy left when Judge Samuel Thumma was named to the Arizona Court of Appeals.

Sinclair earned her law degree from State University of New York’s Buffalo School of Law in 1986. She worked previously in Georgia and as a deputy Maricopa County attorney. She also clerked for former Arizona Supreme Court Chief Justice Bud Jones.
