Part of State Route 90 in southeastern Arizona will be used for Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever’s funeral procession Wednesday afternoon, and the Department of Transportation says motorists can expect delays.

Dever died last week in a one-vehicle accident in northern Arizona.

Vehicles carrying family members, friends, dignitaries and law enforcement personnel will travel between Benson and Sierra Vista.

The Department of Transportation says the right lane of eastbound Route 90 near a staging area south of Interstate 10 will be closed a half-hour before the procession begins at 3:30 p.m.

The procession will travel through Whetstone and Huachuca City into Sierra Vista where a memorial service will be held at Buena High School.

The department says motorists will not be permitted to pass the procession.

  1. GOOD PICTURE

  2. The honors rendered to Sheriff Dever and his family were well deserved and a tribute to his faithful service as Sheriff of Cochise County.

Any inconvenience to persons using this road will be quickly forgotten (except by the selfish few who complain about everything that doesn’t do exactly there way.

I trust his replacement will be as honorable and hard-working as Larry Dever.

  3. … condolences to all who are grieving. Very sad.

While I do not object to a small official funeral, these gigantic public funerals, replete w/ troops & helicopters from all over are a grotesque expenditure that serves no public purpose; who thinks they have the authority to squander so many $$ thusly, much like million dollar bounties of public $$ for cartel thugs & others ??

Why does this topic never get traction w/ the CONservatives ?
