Attorney General Tom Horne pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a hit-and-run accident.

Horne’s attorney, Michael Kimerer, filed a not guilty plea Friday in Phoenix Municipal Court. Horne was charged with a Class 3 misdemeanor last month for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident in March without locating the owner of the unattended vehicle he hit.

The filing canceled a scheduled arraignment hearing.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for Nov. 21.

The alleged hit-and-run accident came to light during an FBI investigation into alleged campaign finance violations by Horne and an ally who ran an independent expenditure campaign during the 2010 attorney general’s race. According to FBI reports, agents were following Horne and a colleague on March 27 when they watched him back into a parked car and drive away without getting out of his vehicle or checking for damage.

Horne has said he was unaware that he caused any damage, and has offered to pay for any repairs.
