To our Legislators:

I find this situation unacceptable and shameful. What is an attorney and a County Attorney doing invoived in this? From an ethical and moral stand point it is WRONG!

"Arizona: The Money Laundering State" courageous article by Laurie Roberts

excerpt: "Trying to avoid an audit, American for Responsible Leadership this morning admitted that the $11 million it sunk into two California campaigns wasn’t really from the Arizona PAC.

Instead it came through a "daisy chain" of political PACS – one of which is run by GOP operative and Koch brothers pal Sean Noble.

And all created to hide the true source of the money.

Arizonans should be outraged to see our state used as what essentially amounts to a money laundering service. But also because $1.5 million of that money from supersecret sources has been used to convince you to vote against Props. 204, the education sales tax, and 121, the Open Elections Open Government initiative.

In the case of Prop. 121, virtually every dime spent to convince you that this is a bad idea came from shadowy out-of-state interests.

OK, that’s an exaggeration. It was really 99 percent of the money.

ARL’s admission came to light this morning because unlike Arizona, California has laws to compel at least some transparency. Facing an audit, the group this morning admitted to the California Fair Practices Commission that it was an intermediary and not the true source of the $11 million plunked down to kill a tax increase and boost a proposition that would limit the political activity of unions.

ARL said the money really came from Americans for Job Security via the Center to Protect Patient Rights. CPPR was set up by Noble, who has connections to the Koch brothers.

“Under California law, the failure to disclose this initially was campaign money laundering,” the commission said. "At $11 million, this is the largest contribution ever disclosed as vcampaign money laundering in California history."

And it happened because in Arizona, our politicians are apparently OK with that.

Sean Noble’s gotten rich off the practice of setting up this web of non-profits aimed at shielding the true source of the money. Kirk Adams and Bill Montgomery (among others) are turning their heads and allowing it to happen. And as for the Legislature?"

Arizona just keeps outdoing itself. If an ordinary person did any of this, they would be sitting in prison for decades in Arizona. Once again, one set of rules for the people, and another for the "leaders" who are in positions of trust.

I would like to take issue with the concept that Sen. Antenori was Pierce's own whip. As I was the Senate Majority Whip in the 39th Legislature, the positions of Leader and Whip are elected by the Caucus, not by the body, unlike the presiding officer, and therefore may not have any political connection to the President except being members of the same political party.

I can assure you I was not the 39th Legislature's Senate Whip of the President, who did not vote for me, I was elected to the position by the caucus, and spent two years try to stem his concerted efforts to raise taxes and spend more taxpayers' dollars in conjunction with the minority party.
