Retiring U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl is being praised for serving Arizona for more than a quarter century.
Kyl spent nearly 18 years in the Senate after being a congressman for eight years.
In a speech Tuesday on the Senate floor in Washington, fellow Republican Sen. John McCain praised “tireless work ethic.”
McCain called Kyl “a senator’s senator” who “prefers accomplishments to acclaim.”
McCain also praised Kyl for “his unflappable patience, his careful attention to detail, his determination to be fair to all parties involved and to achieve results that are in the best interests of Arizona.”
