Gov. Jan Brewer traveled in style to Super Bowl XLVII over the weekend with an all-star cast that included a prominent Arizona entrepreneur and philanthropist, an All-Pro football star and an Academy Award nominee.
The governor and her son, Michael Brewer, flew to New Orleans for the big game on a private jet owned by Jason Hope, a telecommunications magnate, philanthropist and major contributor to Republican candidates and causes. Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and actor Edward James Olmos also flew with Hope and the Brewers.
Brewer spokesman Matthew Benson said the governor flew on Hope’s plan at his invitation.
“He’s an acquaintance of the governor’s. He is very active in Republican circles,” Benson said.
Benson said the governor and her son paid for their own tickets to the Super Bowl.
