Arpaio to release report on bungled investigations

Sheriff Arpaio has been in office 20 years, mainly by being tough on crime and, more recently, illegal immigration. The sheriff for metropolitan Phoenix has released 10,000 pages of documents on an internal probe into sex-crime cases.

The documents released Monday afternoon explain why hundreds of sex-crime cases were either inadequately investigated or not looked into at all during a three-year period ending in 2007.

The investigation was launched in May 2008 after a city that paid Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s office for police services discovered at least 32 reported child molestations in which the agency failed to follow through.

Arpaio’s office reopened more 400 sex-crimes cases that were reported to the agency but were inadequately investigated or not investigated at all after they were reported.

  1. Meanwhile they were going after the “easy” convictions, “high-profile” teachers, coaches, caregivers, nurses, doctors = $$$”s for the “system”. Study those cases of the innocent and wrongfully convicted and wrongfully imprisoned during this reign of terror on the community. Over 200,000 felony CASES under disgraced, disbarred ex-MCAO Andrew Thomas and his chief “charging” prosecutor, ex-DCA Lisa Aubuchon — both joined at the hip with the County Sheriff Arpaio. Who’s left standing in their abuse of power? An 80 something sheriff who can’t remember anything and failed to do his job? Truly sickening and shameful.
