YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — Yuma’s mayor is suing the other six members of the City Council and two city officials over his legal fees stemming from an independent investigation.
Earlier this week, Mayor Alan L. Krieger agreed to repay mileage reimbursements he allegedly paid himself from the city’s petty cash fund over the last two fiscal years.
The issue was brought up by a council member who said Krieger had received more than $800 from the petty cash fund without submitting proper documentation.
Now Krieger is suing for more than $15,500. He says that’s the amount he accumulated in legal fees for defending an investigation brought last year by other members of the council.
City Administrator Greg Wilkinson says Yuma most likely will hire an outside attorney to defend itself in the suit.
