President Barack Obama and Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s last meeting on the tarmac of a Phoenix airport in 2012 made international headlines after she shook her right index finger at him.

They could meet again next week.

Obama is scheduled to give a speech Tuesday in the Phoenix area on housing and the middle class as part of a tour highlighting his plans for the nation’s economic recovery.

Brewer’s spokesman says the governor is interested in meeting with Obama.

She asked the president on July 12 to declare the Yarnell Hill Fire near Prescott a federal disaster area to free up money to assist residents. That was weeks ago.

The Arizona Republic says Brewer is concerned about the amount of time federal officials are taking to consider the request.
