Maricopa County sheriff hires constitutional expert

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors approved the contract with North Carolina-based Thomas and Means Law Firm on Wednesday.
Chief Deputy Jerry Sheridan says Randy Means was first brought in about 2 ½ years ago after a national search for a leadership-training expert.
The review will include concerns raised by the American Civil Liberties Union and the U.S. Department of Justice in recent lawsuits against the sheriff’s office over its policing methods. Sheridan tells The Arizona Republic the hiring isn’t tied to just those cases.
