Business, civic leaders to hear economic forecast

chartsAn economic researcher says Arizona’s economy is expanding at a slow but steady pace with population and employment growth rates that are above most states’ rates but below the state’s own long-term averages.

Arizona State University Research Professor Lee McPheters on Wednesday will be one of the featured speakers addressing hundreds of Arizona business and civic leaders.

The forecast luncheon being held at the Phoenix Convention Center is sponsored by JPMorgan Chase and ASU’s W.P. Carey School of Business.

Anticipated topics include the stock and housing markets and effects of the federal government’s budget troubles.

Along with McPheters, scheduled speakers include economic consultant Elliott Pollack and JPMorgan Chase senior economist James Glassman.
