Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is heading to Tennessee to attend summer meetings of the National Governors Association.

Brewer jets out Wednesday and won’t return until Monday. While she’s gone, Secretary of State Ken Bennett is technically in charge.

Brewer’s staff hasn’t released a detailed agenda for her trip, other than saying she’s headed to Nashville for meetings that begin Thursday. The event wraps up on Sunday.

The governors group gathers twice a year to discuss issues facing states and to share best practices, develop common national policy goals and work on solutions to problems states face. Governors from across the nation are able to meet in governors-only sessions to exchange ideas in a private setting.

  1. A Governor can ask Democrats and Republicans to balance the Federal Budget and reduce it by 40% without touching the military or Senior Citizens benefits within 2 months and if they don’t the Governor can ask voters to vote to withhold 100% of their State taxes until it is done.
