End gun-free zones, allow teachers to conceal carry
End gun-free zones. Allow teachers to conceal carry. And you, the media, please stop being biased toward gun control.
Myths of gun control always miss the target
The recent slaughter at the grade school in Connecticut is an unimaginable tragedy that could never have been predicted. What can be predicted with pinpoint accuracy will be the national call to disarm honest, law-abiding citizens as a strategy to somehow prevent this from happening again.
Article didn’t accurately describe university funding request
The nature of the universities’ funding requests was not accurately described in the Nov. 30 Arizona Capitol Times article “Universities, agencies seek major spending hikes.” While the article accurately reports the total of the system’s fiscal year 2014 request, it is misleading to suggest that the universities are requesting a 29 percent budget increase.
Small employers get shortchanged under rules for premium rebates
Everyone who has health insurance — whether individually or through their employer — may have recently received a premium rebate from their insurance provider due to the Affordable Care Act.
Candidates’ identities will be in question in ‘jungle primary’
I plan to vote against Proposition 121 because I won’t know the true identity of the candidates.
Tribute to a champion
From 2003 to 2011, Bill Konopnicki honorably represented the 5th Legislative District of Arizona and was a champion of countless public policy issues, including health care, criminal justice reform, foster care, and education reform.
Prop. 115 would increase partisan politics in judicial selection
The Maricopa County Bar Association, a voluntary organization comprised of over 3,000 members of the Maricopa County legal community, urges you to vote ‘no’ on Proposition 115, SCR 1001.
‘Top-2’ primary is like candy — offers quick satisfaction but ultimately rots teeth
Thank you for the informative article “Other states with top-2 primaries show mixed results” from the Sept. 21 issue of the Arizona Capitol Times. The piece presented a number of pros and cons of the top-two system based on both actual results and expectations from other states.
Arizona’s Solar Energy Credit Program is a bait-and-switch
Our company evaluated the cost/payback to add solar panels to our auto mall building. The Federal Tax Credit helped shorten the time it would take to recoup our investment, but the Arizona tax credit — 10 percent of the purchase price — placed the project into the “let’s do it” category.
Many Muslims are loyal Americans, including doctor to Congress
It has come to my attention that some members of the Arizona community are “warning” us that all Muslims are a threat to the United States.
