A disciplinary panel disbarred former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas and his former deputy Lisa Aubuchon today, calling the former prosecutors unscrupulous, hypocritical and self-centered. A third former deputy, Rachel Alexander, was suspended for six months and one day.

Horne denies allegations, fires back at accuser

Attorney General Tom Horne denied allegations that he violated campaign laws in 2010 and accused the prosecutor who made them of filing a complaint because he knew he was about to lose his job.

In an email on Monday evening, Horne spokeswoman Amy Rezzonico said the attorney general did not illegally collaborate with Kathleen Winn, the chairwoman of a pro-Horne independent expenditure that spent more than a half-million dollars on attack ads against his Democratic opponent.

Stapley announces CD9 run (access required)

After 18 years at the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, Don Stapley is setting his sights on Congress. Stapley said he filed paperwork Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission to run in the 9th Congressional District, which covers parts of Chandler, Mesa, Phoenix and Tempe.
