Patterson lashes out against fellow Dems (access required)

Rep. Daniel Patterson lashed out against his colleagues today, saying that he was the victim of a “lynch mob mentality” and that some members were going to “look very foolish” when the truth came out.

The Tucson Democrat said that he would not be “bullied” into stepping down or reconsidering his bid for re-election this fall, despite being dogged by accusations of domestic violence.

In a stunning turn of events, Sen. Scott Bundgaard resigned his legislative seat just moments before he was scheduled to take the witness stand in the ethics investigation against him involving a freeway fight with his ex-girlfriend.

The lawyer defending the Peoria Republican told a committee weighing the case against Bundgaard today that the hearing was "no longer necessary."

Ethics Committee hires ex-federal prosecutor in Bundgaard case

The Senate Ethics Committee has hired a former federal prosecutor to investigate whether Sen. Scott Bundgaard broke ethics rules in a roadside scuffle with his ex-girlfriend.

And the attorney, Kory Langhofer, appears to be aggressively pursuing the case: He said he will likely call witnesses to testify in the ethics trial next month, including alleged victim Aubry Ballard, police officers and other eye witnesses to the domestic-violence incident.
