CNN reschedules Arizona’s GOP presidential debate to February

Timing is everything, and for Arizona that may not be a good thing.

CNN today announced that it would reschedule Arizona’s Republican presidential primary debate to Feb. 22, just six days before the state’s presidential preference election. The debate, which will be held at the Mesa Arts Center, was originally scheduled for Nov. 30.

AZ Supreme Court won’t block Mathis’ removal (access required)

The Arizona Supreme Court has rejected Colleen Mathis’ request to block her removal as Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission chair while the appeal of her ouster works its way through the court system.

Mathis can continue to appeal her decision, but will do so as the former IRC chairwoman, the court ruled on Tuesday.

Mathis refutes open meeting allegations (access required)

Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission Chairwoman Colleen Mathis responded Monday for the first time about allegations that she violated open meeting laws, acknowledging that she spoke with two Republican commissioners about a mapping consultant but denying that the conversations were illegal or improper.
