SB1070 repeal bill reopens deep political divisions (access required)

Though it has practically no chance of passing, a bill to repeal SB1070 exposed deep political divisions at the state Capitol about how to confront illegal immigration, a complex and often emotional issue.

Ethics Committee hires ex-federal prosecutor in Bundgaard case

The Senate Ethics Committee has hired a former federal prosecutor to investigate whether Sen. Scott Bundgaard broke ethics rules in a roadside scuffle with his ex-girlfriend.

And the attorney, Kory Langhofer, appears to be aggressively pursuing the case: He said he will likely call witnesses to testify in the ethics trial next month, including alleged victim Aubry Ballard, police officers and other eye witnesses to the domestic-violence incident.

‘Ron Gould Revolution’ coming soon

Gould hasn’t formally announced he is exploring a congressional run in the proposed CD4, but this week he created an exploratory committee with the Federal Elections Commission and he told our reporter today that an announcement is planned for the near future.
