Pearce: I will not retreat

I’d be lying if I said I was not extremely disappointed by being voted out in a recall election. It has been an honor to serve the people of Arizona in the legislature for the last decade and I am sad to go under these circumstances.

There is still much to be done, even though we lead the nation in many areas, such as economic recovery, safer neighborhoods, job creation, quality education, 2nd Amendment freedom, lower taxes, less regulation, defense of the unborn, protection of property rights, and yes, a return to the principles laid down by our Founding Fathers.

Judge upholds major portions of Alabama’s SB1070-style law (access required)

A federal judge in Alabama upheld two major provisions of that state’s illegal immigration law that are nearly identical to key portions of SB1070 that were struck down. U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Blackburn blocked some portions of HB56 in her ruling on Wednesday but upheld provisions making it a crime to not carry immigration papers and requiring law enforcement officers to check people’s immigration status if they have a reasonable suspicion that they’re in the country illegally.

Lawyers say Parraz has uphill climb to prove defamation

Lawyers familiar with First Amendment issues and campaign laws said Randy Parraz, one of the organizers of the recall drive targeting Senate President Russell Pearce, would have a tough time proving he was defamed by signs that say he supported the boycott against Arizona and he pines for open borders.

Lewis camp considering legal action against fake Twitter account

For almost three weeks, a Twitter account posing as Jerry Lewis, the Mesa Republican running against Senate President Russell Pearce in an upcoming recall election, has posted tweets promoting gay pornography and illegal immigration, aligning Lewis with extreme liberal causes and calling out politicians who are backing Lewis.
