A small group of lobbyists with Husk Partners met in an office in 2009 at the firm as allegations of a Fiesta Bowl scandal involving illegal political contributions swirled.

Lobbyists John MacDonald, Dana Paschke and Dean Miller made a pact of sorts as they looked over the statute outlawing reimbursement of contributions, according to a search warrant affidavit that provides details of an investigation into the firm’s recently indicted head, Gary Husk.

Arizona asks U.S. Supreme Court to rule on 20-week abortion ban <span class="dmcss_key_icon"><img alt="(access required)" src="/files/2013/12/lock1.png" border=0/></span>

Two of Arizona’s top law enforcement officials asked the U.S. Supreme Court today to consider the constitutionality of the state’s law banning abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Attorney General Tom Horne and Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery petitioned the court to hear their appeal to a ruling that found the state’s law unconstitutional.

Apache County board chairman: “Stay out of the fight” (access required)

The chairman of the Apache County Board of Supervisors told county attorneys they shouldn't start a legal battle over Sen. Carlyle Begay’s qualifications to hold office. Rep. Albert Hale claims that Begay has lived in Gilbert, not Ganado, for the last seven years, and therefore can't represent Apache County in the Arizona Senate.
