Approximately 200 people gathered at the Bentley Projects Tuesday evening to watch their friends and colleagues take home Best of the Capitol Awards voted on by the Capitol community. Emcee Russell Smoldon of SRP kept the crowd guessing what would be next as he called the winners to the podium – and poked a little fun for good measure.
Although many in and around the Capitol community make a business out of perpetual disagreement, the votes of nearly 1,000 responders to our 2010 Best of the Capitol survey revealed solidarity on several issues, including the timelessness of Marcus Dell’Artino’s magazine-ad worthy hair and the behind-the-scenes operational prowess of one J. Charles Coughlin.
Now in its fourth edition, Arizona Capitol Times Best of the Capitol awards are a reflection of where the Capitol community spends its time and money and who it listens to and learns from.
Poll responders voted on their favorites in 42 categories from best awards event to best cocktail party.
Responses this year far surpassed last year’s record number of responses, so for 2011 “Best of” hopefuls, it’s never too early to start a support campaign.
And this year, it’s only winners. No second places.
